Safety

Safety Ethics

RJE's primary objective on any project is to ensure the safety of our employees, co-workers and the public we interact with.

RJE have well developed Safety Management Plans for site works and these plans refer to procedures and forms which workers are required to comply with and complete, to meet our safety objectives.

In addition to the requirements of our Safety Management Plan, RJE have developed Ten Critical Safety Rules which address what we see as the high risk safety exposure areas for our employees. Being generally safety conscious and complying with our Safety Management Plan are a given for site works, but being mindful of the Critical Safety Rules helps us simplify safety for our employees. Each critical safety rule has pre-defined disciplinary actions which are discussed with employees.

RJE Critical Safety Rules

  1. Fitness for Work - Never attend the job site under the influence or in possession of non-prescription drugs or alcohol.
  2. Isolation Procedures - Never work on or in close proximity to live plant without adhering to RJE’s lockout/isolation procedure (minimum requirement is in accordance with NECA handbook).
  3. Working at Heights - Never work at heights without correct fall protection or prevention measures.
  4. Confined Space - Never work in a confided space without following the correct procedures.
  5. Safety Equipment and Devices - Never misuse or tamper with a safety device in such a manner which would make them ineffective. Seat belts are to be correctly worn on all job sites.
  6. Supported Ground/ Loads - Never work under or in close proximity to unsupported ground. This includes trenches greater than 1.5m in depth. Never work under a suspended load.
  7. Licenses - Never operate equipment or undertake work which requires a specific license without having a valid and current license.
  8. Risk Assessment - Never undertake significant works without completing a risk assessment
  9. Incident Reporting - Always report Incidents, Near misses and Accidents as soon a practical. Never attempt to “cover-up” an incident.
  10. PPE - Always wear required PPE in the appropriate manner.
